Scorpus
began its operations in 2005 and as of May 2007 it has its
product in the market which is being piloted by global companies.
Scorpus will use its independent organization structure
and business operations to enhance and aggressively take
the product into the market segments.
Canarys, which is into software services and outsourced
software product engineering business, has managed large
enterprise applications through their lifecycle. Canarys
interest to incubate Scorpus began in 2005 after coming
across deep needs expressed by its customers in the area
of software asset which goes beyond the code reuse practice.
In fact the software industry has always been longing for
a systematic solution to implement a standards based software
asset repository that will help manage the complexity and
the rate of change.
After noticing several such cases in the industry and the
customer’s attempts through unorganized initiatives
using their internal teams, Canarys sponsored a dedicated
group to focus on the market need for an innovative solution
to manage ‘software as enterprise assets’. |

This
incubation opportunity and funds helped launch an independent
product division with dedicated management, development,
and business teams. The Scorpus division has dedicated research,
development, and product marketing teams with established
support structure for the customers.
Canarys has funded Scorpus division through the 2005-2007
periods. Scorpus has planned for aggressive marketing to
acquire new customers and expand the operation for product
development and support. The product has clear cut roadmap
for the next 2 years in the service oriented architecture
(SOA), Enterprise architecture and eventually into digital
software assembly line. This would require Scorpus to build
and maintain strong partnership with technology and services
companies. Along with that Scorpus will have to ramp up
on the development, sales, consulting and support capabilities
to cater to both the Indian and the USA market. |
